Scones recipes using US measurements (cups vs g) and self-raising flour? We Answered:
Tips:You can use self-rising flour in yeast bread recipes, but you'll need to omit the salt.
If you use self-rising flour as a substitute for all-purpose flour in a quick bread, omit salt and baking powder.

Why do Americans use plain flour with baking powder instead of self raising flour for cakes? We Answered:
i'm not american, but i use regular flour and b. powder because it's way cheaper... and if you get used to self raising flour, you don;t know what to do when you run out and the store is closed (happened to my sister).Everett Said:

Why do some cookery recipes say to use Self-raising flour, while others say plain flour and baking powder>?We Answered:
when you use self rising floor it has what it needs .. such as the baking soda and salt. in plain flour you add baking soda and salt to the recipe you are using. and as to why some ask for self rising and some ask for regulare flour ... i have no idea. i guess cause some recipes are like that.Jo Said:
biscuit recipes with self raising flour? We Answered:
Double Chocolate CookiesThese American style cookies are not quite as crisp as a biscuit; and they won't keep for long, a couple of days at most. If you don't want to go to the bother of roughly chopping the chocolate use chocolate chips instead.
Makes about 24 biscuits
175 g (6 oz) butter, at room temperature
225 g (8 oz) caster sugar
2 eggs
350 g (12 oz self-raising flour
85 g (3 oz) plain chocolate
85 g (3 oz) white chocolate
Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Measure all of the ingredients into a medium bowl and mix thoroughly until a smooth biscuit dough is formed.
Place large spoonfuls of the mixture well apart on parchment lined baking sheets and flatten slightly using the back of a spoon.
Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and just firm to the touch. Transfer to a wire rack to cool and then store in an airtight container.

Anyone have a Self-Raising Flour Bread Recipe? We Answered:
All bread machines that I know of use yeast. Self-raising flour has baking powder in it. Yeast and baking powder work differently. I have never seen a recipe that uses both and don't think that they will work together. You can use the self-raising to make biscuits. If you want the yeasty taste in biscuits use beer instead of milk.
