does anyone have a GOOD homemade mac and cheese recipe?

We Answered:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
1 cup half-and-half
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese, divided
salt
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350°. Cook macaroni in boiling salted water according to package directions; drain well and set aside. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Blend in flour, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly. Gradually stir in milk and half-and-half. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add paprika, pepper, and 2 cups of the cheese; stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth. Combine sauce with the macaroni and add salt to taste. Place in a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Garnish top with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese and dot with additional butter. Bake 25 to 30 minutes.
Serves 4 to 6.

Velveeta, or cheez whiz. But Velveeta is actually cubed, while cheez whiz is in a jar.

Where do I find processed american cheese at the store?

We Answered:

Velveeta is processed american cheese and you can find it in the craker aisle. Velveeta and salsa is really yummy. 1 package of cream cheese and salsa is good too.

Don Said:

ok real quick...I have a recipe that calls for processed american cheese?

We Answered:

velveeta.

you can use finely shredded cheddar cheese, but it may not be as smooth. If you decide to use the cheddar cheese you will want to remove the pot from the stovetop and slowly stir the shredded cheese in a bit at a time..other wise you will end up with lumps of cheese that are seperated from the rest.

Recipes using smoked processed cheese?

We Answered:

The smoky flavor compliments any kind of meat, and will go with any grain products, think stir fry.

Just doodle around with a couple of stir fry's that seem to make sense, thats what I would do with it. Mmmm but you do have what proper cheese should be.

Yeh, it will work fine with burgers. Fry it up with some broccoli and carrots as an excellent side dish. Or you could make a cheesy omelet.
