It would be the exact same measurements. The only difference is the savory taste of the cream cheese vs. the sweet taste of the mascarpone cheese. I find mascarpone cheese a bit creamier than cream cheese too. Cream cheese has a bit of a grainy texture sometimes. Cheesecake made with mascarpone is creamier and sweeter.Vicki Said:

In a small pan, warm the cream over medium heat till it feels hot, don't let it simmer. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and pour the warm cream over top. Whisk till the chocolate melts. set bowl in ice bath till chilled. Place a piece of plastic wrap on the surface of the mixture and a second one over the bowl and place in fridge for 4 hours (can be done 1 day ahead) In the bowl with electric mixer fitted with whisk attachemnt, combine the cheese and half the white chocolate mixture and whip 2 mintues till mixed. Add he remaining chocolate mixture and mix on high till frosting hold a peak.
**Mascarpone cheese is from Italy and is sold in small tubs in most stores. Yield is aprox but it is enough to frost 12-16 cupcakes.**Time indicated is chill time.
MASCAOPONE CHEESE FROSTING
1/2 stick/1/4 cup/56g unsalted butter, softened
8oz/227g mascarpone cheese, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 lb/427g sifted confectioner's/icing sugar
with an electric mixer, beat the butter and mascarpone cheese together until fluffy. add the vanilla extract, and the sugar incrementally, until fully incorporated.

No, it is not OK to use Philadelphia instead of mascarpone cheese for tiramisu. First of all, the cream cheese is so much denser than mascarpone cheese, so even if you start mixing it with stuff, it won't mix easy, and I doubt you'll be able to get it as light as original mascarpone. On top of that, the cheese taste will be pretty heavy, so that means your tiramisu will taste different as well. If you mix something else into the cream cheese, you will need to mix in a lot of it to thin out the mascarpone cheese. This will make your resulting tiramisu taste funny and have a weird texture.
