Herbes De Provence Recipes

Can anyone help me with a proposal dinner? We Answered:
I like the lamb idea because it's a staple in both cultures. Maybe a rack of lamb, whipped potatoes, and stuffed cabbage (French style). Serve wine with dinner. My reasoning as follows:
Rack of lamb could go either way.
Potatoes are more Irish than anything! Plus, the fact that they'll be whipped, which is a nod to French cuisine (the more butter, the better).
Stuffed cabbage makes me think of corned beef and cabbage, which is such a delicious Irish dish. However, this recipe takes a French twist: http://www.yumyum.com/recipe.htm?ID=1481…
You probably won't have room for dessert after this, but this recipe: http://irish.spike-jamie.com/desserts.ht… would be amazing. Bread pudding is ultra-European. I've seen delicious recipes for bread pudding, and it's popular in the French countryside. However, this bread pudding incorporates Irish soda bread as opposed to brioche.
I think this menu is a beautiful fusing of cuisines to represent the fusing of your lives!
Good luck:)

How long will it take to thaw a 15 pound frozen turkey in the refrigerator? We Answered:
It will take 3 to 7 days depending on the temperature of your frig. If it's 32 to 35 F, it will take 6 to 7 days, if it's 39 to 41, 3 to 5 days. I smoke numerous Turkeys and sell them each year, and I find it best to leave them submersed in cold water overnight, or allow it to set under running water for several hrs.Melvin Said:
Can I prepare "Scalloped Potatoes with Goat Cheese and Herbes de Provence" and refrigerate overnight? We Answered:
Too funny - I asked almost the same question about a different epicurious potato and goat cheese gratin a few months ago http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…As it says in the answer - I went ahead and baked it and just reheated it and it worked great. I had the added issue of needing to transport the potatoes, so there was no way to move a liquidy casserole.
By the way, I haven't tried the recipe you are making, but the one in my question is absolutely AMAZING!!

Can someone tell me what is another name for Herbes De Provence? We Answered:
The mixture typically contains savory, fennel, basil, thyme, and lavender flowers and other herbs. (Some cooks maintain that lavender is an essential ingredient of true herbes de provence.) The proportions vary by manufacturer. Thyme usually dominates the taste produced by the herb mixture. This herb combination captures the flavors of the sunny South of FranceHerbes de Provence are used to flavour grilled foods such as fish and meat, as well as vegetable stews. The mixture can be added to foods before or during cooking or mixed with cooking oil prior to cooking so as to infuse the flavour into the cooked food. They are rarely added after cooking is complete.
Herbes de Provence are often sold in larger bags than other herbs, and the price in Provence is considerably lower than other herbs.
Provençal cuisine has traditionally used many herbs, which were often characterized collectively as "herbes de Provence", but not in standard combinations, and not sold as a mixture:

Where can I get (edible) lavender? We Answered:
If you have a farmers market nearby you can probably get lavender there. Or if you know someone who grows it. Just be sure it is pesticide free. Then you can dry it and make your ice cream or cookies. Or you can order it from Penzey's Spices

It will cost about $10,00 plus shipping

Cleaning out the fridge...what do you think of this recipe? Will it work?We Answered:
Sounds wonderful but I would suggest you not add the tomatoes to the tartlets but use as a side dish or fresh garnish. Maybe add a little fresh parmesan instead
