Help? I have a recipe which calls for garlic powder and I only have garlic salt?We Answered:
Use real garlic! Mince a few cloves and put it in with the beef when you cook it. If you don't have any fresh either go ahead and use the garlic salt, just double the amount of garlic salt for the garlic powder you usually use to equal the garlic flavor and don't use any other salt.(chef/30 years)

Can I use garlic powder as garlic salt in my red potatoes? We Answered:
Put in the powder and if your recipe doesn't call for table salt, put a bit in.The important thing is if your recipe already calls for regular salt, don't add more than it calls for, just add the powder and you'll be fine.
Good Luck!

Anyone know a recipe using garlic powder or salt and powdered cheddar cheese? We Answered:
I was thinking cheddar mashed potatoes, twice baked potatoes or scalloped potatoes were the first things that came to mind try www.allrecipes.com, they have some great ideas and you can search by ingredients, best of luck. This is the ingredient search:

**EDIT** sorry, didn't know you were asking for a dip. If its dip, I would say it most likely some kind of mexican taco dip. I know a REALLY good one that is so easy and everyone asks me to make it for parties. Mix salsa, powedered cheddar (to taste), and sour creme. You can top with shredded cheddar in a regular bowl OR layer with lettuce, tomato and shredded cheddar and sliced balck olives on top.
Another kind of dipped is a baked dip. Place either canned or homemade chili on bottom of cassarole dish, Mix a little powdered cheddar cheese and creme cheese and soften a little in microwave, spread on top of chili. Top with shredded mexican cheese and bake in oven on 350degrees until cheese is well melted.
(These recipes are best when served with "scoops" tortilla chips as they are thick dips.)
Enjoy, I have used both recipes and they are DELICIOUS!

What is a substitute for garlic powder in this recipe? We Answered:
Sounds delicious....!You could substitute 1 small clove of garlic, minced finely.
If you don't have fresh garlic, you could try try onion powder (I would) as it is in the same family as garlic. Yes it may alter the flavor just a bit but not enough to drastically change the flavor of the biscuits, and not enough to alter the outcome. Going without may produce a biscuit with less flavor, but then again. they may be flavorful enough without garlic.
Happy biscuit making!
