Kurt Said:

Are there any grocery stores that sell "High Fructose Corn Syrup"?

We Answered:

high fructose corn syrup is an industrial product - there is serious concern about the effect this has on people's health. Because it's an industrially made syrup, our body does not recognize it as a natural ingredient (such as carbs or fat) and therefore is not able to process it properly. It accumulates in our body and causes different health issues.

Does anyone have any main meal recipes for people with Fructose Intolerance/Malabsorption ?

We Answered:

I found, for sale, the world's first Frut/Mal cookbook at the following site, which hopefully is helpful :)

http://www.coeliac.com.au/

I also stumbled upon the following support group for people with Fructose Intolerance, and believe that this question could be answered on one of the topic boards, by others who live with this, and have real-life ideas.

What is sucrose and fructose as it applies to cooking/recipes?

We Answered:

sucrose is the ordinary table sugar or refined sugar whether it came from beet or sugarcane. It is the most widely used sweetener in the food industry, kitchens, homes, restaurants & hotels.

Fructose is another type of sugar that is much sweeter than sucrose in powder form, it has also liquid form called high fructose syrup. It is made from corn, grapes etc. It is ussually used in manufacturing light corn syrup, beverages like soda or pop, ice cream.

Paul Said:

What is the healthiest natural non-fructose containing and non alcohol containing sweetener?

We Answered:

Major constraints is right. To my knowledge, you've eliminated every type of baking sweetner available.

Side note: I would recommend xylitol. It is the ONLY sweetner proven to help prevent tooth decay.
