We Answered:I think one reason for the red pepper is for color. We like our food to look every appetizing when served.
I would add a small amount about the same as one small pepper of stewed tomatoes that are drained well.
A "tiny" amount of jalapeno to the stewed tomatoes will do the trick or you can add a bit of Cayenne pepper.
I opened a restaurant and have cooked for years and everyone keeps coming back for more. I love cooking and making up my own recipes.
