Susan Said:Easy recipes using highbush cranberries?
We Answered:First off, taste them. If they don't taste similar to real cranberries, dump them. There are several varieties of high bush cranberries and not all are edible.
Use them in any recipe that calls for regular cranberries, but remember they have a single large seed that is bitter flavored and if you cook them without removing the seed, the pulp will taste bitter also.
Freezing and thawing does a good job of reducing them to pulp and making the removal of the seed easy.
All I've ever done is make jam from them, but you can substitute the pulp cup for cup in any cranberry recipe.
Delores Said:How can I use fresh cranberries in recipes?
We Answered:One of the best and easiest things you can make is fresh cranberry sauce, the directions are on the back of the bag. I sometimes substitute apple cider for some of the water for more flavor.
Justin Said:Raw Cranberries - Any good easy recipes?
We Answered:they are great if you put a equal amount of sugar to the cranberries, simmer for about an hour uncovered or until all the sugar has dissolved, you want it to look like a jam of sort. Freeze it and this thanksgiving you will have a great side.
