Confectionery coating is found in the baking products section in your local supermarket (Sainsbury's) or a baking supply or craft store. It is often found in plastic bags in the shape of a small flattened disk, approx. 1" in diameter. They can also be found in solid, portioned blocks. The most popular flavors are chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. It is not made from chocolate, though many of the packages say you can make your own "chocolates" out of them.I don't think you would be able to make it at home. They are made out of sugar, cornstarch, palm oil, emulsifiers and artificial flavors. I don't know of any recipe.
You don't mention how CC is used in your recipe. If it is for dipping fruit or cake, I would recommend using ganache instead. A simple recipe, 8 oz. of good quality dark chocolate, chopped fine and 4 oz. of heavy whipping cream. Place cream in a two cup, micro safe cup and heat in the micro til boiling. Watch carefully so that the cream doesn't boil over. Remove from micro and add all of the chopped chocolate at once. Do not stir. Place cup back in the micro and allow to sit for 5 min. Remove from micro and gently stir until the chocolate is melted. Don't whisk. Stirring gently helps to prevent bubbles from forming within the ganache. Good Luck and I hope this helps.
